Employees Referred For Investigation As 60+ Expats Renewed Residency Illegally

35 employees were referred for investigation after the authorities found out that they helped renewal of residents for those above 60 years of age, local Arabic daily Al Qabas reported.

According to report, residencies of 157 expatriates were renewed illegally after Kuwait issued a decision to suspend transfer and renewal of residencies for expats above 60 with secondary certificates and below starting from January this year.

The report added that 4 residents obtained work permits for a period of 3 years, while 27 obtained work permits for a period of two years. Rest of them obtained work permits for a period of one year.

Meanwhile local Daily Al-Rai reported that the council of ministers submitted a fresh proposal to allow the renewal of residencies of expats who have reached the age of 60 and above and who are not university graduates. Council of ministers is expected to take a final call on this shortly.
