Eight Sites Allocated For Workers Housing
Director-General of the Kuwait Municipality, Engr Ahmad Al-Manfouhi has sent two letters to the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Osama Al-Otaibi, regarding the allocation of eight sites in the Ahmadi Governorate to establish housing complexes for expatriate workers, five sites in the Al-Shuaiba Port and three in the Al-Shaddia area.
This is done in line with the decision of the Council of Ministers which has instructed the Kuwait Municipality to take all necessary measures to provide a sufficient number of suitable sites for workers’ or to establish workers’ cities in urban and industrial areas for the benefit of the Ministry of Finance which is managing the state property so that it can be sold at public auction to the private sector provided the housing complexes are built within the specified time frame according to the texts and procedures in force in this regard.
The special envoy from the Municipality to Municipal Council for Shuaiba Port said five have been proposed to establish housing complexes, especially for expatriate workers, and the area of each site to be 150,000 square meters in the Shuaiba port area in the Ahmadi Governorate. As for the responses of the competent municipal administrations, such as the Land Allocation Committee has given the approval after the approval of the Department of Structural Plan, Roads and Services and then a report will be submitted to the Municipal Council. According to the proposal the buildings should be maximum four fl oors (for residential purposes) and two fl oor for services and commercial uses.
