For an indefinite period, tourism and travel offices in Egypt suspended "transit" packages, in order to avoid a recurrence of the Egyptian labor crisis wishing to return to Kuwait due to Kuwait's suspension of travel to it due to the epidemic situation of the Corona virus.

While Al-Qabas learned from a source in the Egyptian Ministry of Immigration that the ministry’s operations room is working to facilitate the return of thousands of Egyptians stranded after they failed to continue their way to Kuwait, the same source revealed government recommendations to travel agencies to stop offering travel packages “due to the great risks that may be exposed. It has the traveler as a result of the instability of air traffic, ”especially since the employment cannot suffer more in the“ transit ”countries that set conditions that also include checks and residency.

He pointed out that the resumption of those trips will depend on the availability of a clear vision, whether through transit flights, or the return of direct flights between the two countries when the epidemiological situation stabilizes and the availability of mechanisms that prevent the recurrence of such crises.

Heavy losses

In terms of travel offices, Mohamed Ibrahim, the agent of a group of travel agencies in Cairo, explained to Al-Qabas that travel agents suffered heavy losses due to the sudden decisions to suspend and postpone flights, making it difficult to continue providing these packages due to the instability of air traffic and the change of preventive policies in each country.

He mentioned that the offices are working to recover the value of more than two thousand tickets for travelers after canceling and postponing their trips, indicating that the demand for "transit packages" was great, as it is the only solution for Egyptian workers to join their work in Kuwait, but they will be suspended until further notice.

Ibrahim also indicated that travel agency agents responded to the government's recommendations and suspended all "transit" packages to return to Kuwait.
