Egyptian Was Beaten Up By Kuwait Citizen

08 December 2017 Crime News

Kuwait Society for Human Rights stated in a press release that it has obtained a CCTV video of the assault of an Egyptian expatriate on duty at a motorbike repair garage as well as a video of the victim explaining the circumstances of the assault and how the incident unfolded.

Based on the available evidences and the health condition of the victim, the society condemned this inhumane behavior of the assailant – a Kuwaiti citizen – against an expatriate whose only so-called crime was to exercise his legal right by not working during the specified rest time.

It commended the stance taken by Ministry of Interior to follow up this case closely since the occurrence of the incident. The society considers this unjustified attack as a result of the culture of hatred embedded in the citizen through the media which has been devoted to spreading the message of violence towards expatriates in Kuwait.

It insisted, “If this barbaric culture is not curbed and dealt with, we might witness similar cases of violence in the country”. The society affirmed the need for change in the treatment of expatriates, stressing that expatriates are not tools to execute the wishes of beneficiaries but they offer services in return for wages and have legal rights according to the systems applied in their workplaces which are in line with Kuwait Labor Law and international treaties that guarantee and protect the rights of migrant workers. The society highlighted that it discourages violence, adding, “Should anyone encounter a problem, they must to resort to the law”.

The crime committed by a Kuwaiti who assaulted an Egyptian expatriate working in a shop in Shuwaikh industrial area citizen in a barbaric manner on the day before yesterday is a natural result of the increasing campaigns against expatriates and the constant threats by the Ministry of Interior to deport them if any involved in a quarrel or committing traffic violation, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

No one listened to the warnings made by experts that the attempts to gain popularity on the bodies of expatriates by some MPs and some ministers and those racist campaigns will burn the whole society because sowing the seeds of racism will lead to more violence towards expatriates and to the whole society, too because the promotion of racist thought is like a time bomb that threatens the entire society.
