Egyptian Arrested For Stealing Public Funds

Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department have arrested an unidentified Egyptian for stealing public funds in collusion with two employees of the fuel station, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the suspect possessed two fuel cards (the daily did not say how he got the cards) belonging to one of the sectors of the Ministry of Interior which he gave the employees of the fuel station and told them to swipe the cards for the sale of petrol to public and offered them a percentage thereof.

However, a security source said the suspect is an employee of the Ministry of Interior and when the authorities discovered the loss of the cards, investigations showed where the cards were being used and police went to the fuel station and arrested the two men and found in their possession the two cards. Later the police raided the house of the Egyptian and took him in custody.

During interrogation he said every month was receiving about 180 dinars from each card through the sale of fuel to people while employees at the petrol station keep commission for themselves. The suspects have been referred to the concerned authorities.
