During Ramadan, The Municipality Determines The Timing Of Road Sweeping And Garbage Collection
At the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan, Kuwait Municipality Director-General Ahmed Al-Manfouhi announced an administrative decision to close all restaurants and coffee shops during specified fasting hours and open two hours before the official iftar time, the call to prayer in the Maghreb region.
Meanwhile, out of the public interest and the Kuwait Municipality's keen interest in the health and safety of cleaners during fasting, Al-Manfouhi issued an administrative circular in which all the Departments of Hygiene and Road Works in all Governorates are required to follow up on the implementation of hygiene contracts concluded with cleaning companies, along with the operating hours in daily road sweeping operations and garbage collection, according to a local Arabic newspaper.
According to Eng Al-Manfouhi, sweepers must be in the streets from 3:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and garbage must be collected between 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
Affirming Al-Manfouhi's directive that supervisory bodies must work together with the concerned authorities from the first day of Ramadan to ensure that cleaning companies adhere to the schedule for manual sweeping and curbside garbage collection in order to avoid disciplinary consequences for infractions to the circular, Al-Manfouhi instructed the supervisory bodies in the concerned departments to supervise the implementation of fines and penalties stipulated in contracts signed by the Municipality with cleaning companies.
