During Ramadan, 300 Traffic And Security Patrols Will Be On Duty

04 April 2022 Ramadan

Ramadan traffic plan, which started on Ramadan's first day, has been announced by the General Traffic Department. It is divided into two parts.

According to a local Arabic daily, the first part of the study looks at traffic movement as people leave their homes in the morning and as they depart their workplaces. The second part of the study examines traffic movement after people break their fast.

Dedicated traffic patrols will be deployed on ring roads, highways, and main roads, and at the entrances and exits of major cities, according to Major Abdullah Buhassan of the Public Relations and Traffic Awareness Department.

According to security sources cited by the daily, these patrols take place on two fronts -- the first involves employee entry and exit, and the second involves traffic monitoring cameras being used to monitor movement between traffic patrols and the traffic operations room.

During the evening period until the end of the holy month, Kuwaiti citizens and families will exchange visits, which would result in traffic congestion in commercial markets and complexes as they prepare for Eid Al-Fitr. The second deployment of security forces will take place after the Iftar period in order to ensure the flow of traffic in the first week of the holy month, when many Kuwaitians exchange visits with their family members.

Specifically, Buhassan said that the Traffic Department has changed some timing to align with its plan, including the hours when trucks and similar heavy vehicles are prohibited in the morning from 8:30 until 10:30 in the morning, as well as in the evening from 12:30 until 3:00 in the afternoon.

Administrative changes included extending the working hours of traffic departments and driving test departments from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. According to him, the first day of the blessed month saw four traffic accidents, including one vehicle overturning that resulted in the injuries of three people. The accident was caused by speeding.
