The office of the Council of Ministers has decided to make public the response of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt-Gen Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah to the query submitted by MP Ahmad Al-Fadhel on roaming taxis and driving licenses granted to Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In his reply, Sheikh Al- Jarrah revealed the number of valid driving licenses granted to expatriates was 1,664,000 compared to 624,000 granted for citizens. He pointed out that the number of vehicles registered in the names of Kuwaitis was 39,000, compared to 616,000 registered in the names of expatriates. He denied that there are market licenses or false forms of education, pointing out that some forms and market licenses, which were forged on the basis of which the licenses were issued have been seized and the suspects referred to the competent authority. He spoke of the automated link between the Ministry of Interior and the Public Authority for Manpower to ensure the validity of the profession and sal-ary certificates based on which driving licenses are issued to expatriates.
