Al-Ghanim pointed out this is the way the statemen face danger and put things on the right track. When His Highness Deputy Amir and Crown Prince talked about corruption, he stressed two issues – no one is above the law even if he is one of the ruling family members and that he is personally concerned about combating corruption, the Speaker disclosed.

He affirmed His Highness Deputy Amir was clear when he emphasized that combating corruption should not be used to portray Kuwait as a corrupt spot. He said the Deputy Amir stressed what His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah previously warned about – the danger of misusing social media and turning it into a demolition tool that incites chaos. He added the directive of His Highness Deputy Amir to the executive and legislative authorities to correct the democratic track is necessary. He concluded saying that it is not strange for the Deputy Amir to highlight the importance of commitment to constitutional democracy and enhancing freedom.

Most of the MPs lauded the speech of HH the Deputy Amir while affirming their loyalty to him and obedience to his directives. In addition, Chairman of the Sport and Youth Affairs Committee MP Ahmed Al-Fadl pointed out the Deputy Amir warned against misusing social media through the fake accounts. He said the fake social media accounts have negatively affected many democratic countries and prompted Britain to leave the European Union.

He clarified that even if he supports individual freedom, he will submit a bill to organize, not to ban, fake accounts and news accounts on social media. He explained that everybody has the right to use fake accounts but the authorities must be aware about the one who runs such accounts.

He added an individual cannot walk on the streets with covered face and refuse to respond to the orders of the securitymen to take off the face mask and identify himself. He also confirmed that the committee on Sunday discussed the draft law on professional group games and sport investment. He said the committee listened to the opinions of the representatives of Kuwait Olympic Committee.

He added the committee had earlier consulted the sports associations and they are in favor of the draft law. He disclosed the committee agreed to postpone voting on the bill until Tuesday, after receiving the final reply of Kuwait Olympic Committee. On the other hand, the Financial Affairs Committee on Sunday deliberated on two proposals.

Chairperson of the committee MP Safa’a Al-Hashem said one of the bills is aimed at amending Law No. 39/2010 concerning the establishment of national shareholding companies to build power and desalination plants. She added the other bill is on amending Law No. 116/2016 concerning the partnership projects, indicating the committee agreed to merge the two bills since they are related.

She revealed Minister of Finance Barrak Al-Sheetan declined to attend the meeting and there were no representatives of the ministry to give opinion on the financial part of the bills. The lawmaker pointed out that the committee listened to the opinions of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK), Kuwait Capital Markets Authority (KCMA) and Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP).
