Dgca Did Not Receive Any Request To Bring Back Expats Stranded Abroad

13 August 2020 Kuwait

The government institutions did not send a request to make preparations for the return of expats stranded abroad, especially needed professions in Kuwait such as doctors, engineers, judges, other experts and technicians, to the agencies involved in airport operations, reports Al Rai daily.

As of late, no formal list of expatriates employed in ministries, who are currently abroad as they are from countries on the 31 ban list is being created. The matter was bought to the attention at a meeting held by the Supreme Committee for the Restoration of Commercial Flights at Kuwait International Airport, which was chaired by Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Sheikh Salman Al-Hamoud. The aim of the meeting was to review the procedures for operating flights as well as converse on the local and international developments related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The daily said, quoting sources, that the return of some expats falls requires the approval of health authorities.  No such request for making sure some foreign employees are able to return to the country was made to the government institutions including the Ministry of Health.

In regard to altering the list of 31 ban countries, the daily said that the health authorities did not receive a directive to add or cancel some of the countries from the 31 country ban list that prevents nationalities from these countries from entering Kuwait.

“The ban remains in effect, unless the health authorities receive an official instruction in this regard; especially since reviewing the list of countries — whether to add or cancel — is subject to research and study every 10 days.”

The committee also discussed the assessment of operational procedures that were in place since the start of the commercial flights and the opening of the airport with government agencies, and assured that the aviation sector is operating smoothly and regularly without obstacles
