Detention Of Kuwaiti Lawyer And 4 Egyptians Extended In Abduction Of Another Lawyer

Detention Renewal Judge has extended to April 15 the detention of a Kuwaiti lawyer and four Egyptian expatriates who are accused of kidnapping the Kuwaiti lawyer Soud Al- Haifiand attempting to murder him.

Lawyer Al-Haifirevealed that the four Egyptians carried out their crime based on directives issued to them by another Kuwaiti lawyer for which they each were to be paid KD 1,000. He praised the role played by Ministry of Interior and securitymen in rescuing him.

In a previous TV interview, Lawyer Al-Haifiexplained that he was leaving his office in Sharq area when an individual stopped him to ask the way to a particular location. Immediately, another man approached him and placed a knife near his body, forcing him to enter a 4WD vehicle.

They drove him to Kabad area where they demanded he pay them KD 50,000. When he told them he did not have the money, they beat him until he lost consciousness.

In the process, they revealed to him that a Kuwaiti lawyer had hired them to kidnap him at a cost of KD 1,000 each. Lawyer Al-Haifisaid he sustained some injuries on his face and other parts of his body, and had remained unconscious until he reached the security checkpoint in Omariya.
