Details Sought On Airport Workers Death
National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim recently met the delegation of the chairpersons of scout associations in member-nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Chairman of Arab Parliament Scouts Union and Chairman of Kuwaiti Scouts Society MP Abdullah Al- Turaiji attended the meeting. Members of the delegation expressed their gratitude to Al-Ghanim for his unwavering support, adding that they are looking forward to more support throughout his term as honorary chairman of the Arab Parliament Scouts Union.
The lawmaker also inquired about the committee formed to investigate the incident that occurred on Sept 8, 2021 when two laborers died while working in the new passenger building at Kuwait International Airport (T2). He requested for copies of the committee’s report, as well as the safety and security regulations implemented at the site. Al-Saqaabi asked Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Badah Al-Mutairi about the factors that prevented the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) from holding Kuwait International Book Fair even if Kuwait already returned to to normal life.
He wants to know if there are recommendations or directives from any of the public institutions to cancel the event. If yes, he demanded for copies of these recommendations and directives. He asked if NCCAL listened to the opinions of the owners of publishing houses, if it considered the negative consequences of the cancellation of the book fair for the second year in a row, and if it is aware of the experience of other countries which organized book fairs during the Covid-19 crisis.
In another development, MP Abdulaziz Al-Saqaabi forwarded queries to Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Information Technology Affairs Rana Al-Fares about the average percentage of the completion of maintenance works on the roads and drainage network in Block 2, Khaitan. He wants to know the date when the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) will receive the project from the contractor and if PART asked the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) to specify the procedures of receiving the project.
MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji forwarded queries to Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Khalifa Hamada about the criteria of the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) in evaluating the assets of Petrolink Holding Company before subscribing to it.
