Despite Precautions In Kuwait Coronavirus Infections Cross 100,000

22 September 2020 Coronavirus

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in Kuwait reached 100,683 on 22 September, with 719 new cases reported during the past 24-hours at mid-day on Tuesday.

While announcing the death of three more patients on Tuesday, which took the total fatalities from the viral infection to 588 in the country, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad urged everyone to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the precautionary health guidelines issued by the ministry.

He added that of the new cases reported on Tuesday, 162 were from Al-Ahmadi health zone, 151 were in Al-Farwaniyah, 108 in Al-Jahra, 187 in Hawalli and 120 in the Capital health zone.

Giving further insight into the status of coronavirus infection, Dr. Al-Sanad revealed that the total number of patients who had recovered from the virus stood at 91,612, with 682 patients recovering in the past 24-hours. He noted that 8,483 patients were still under treatment of whom 99 were in intensive care and that in the last 24-hours health personnel had carried out 4,651 test swabs taking the total number of tests done so far at 715,887.

While the pace of infection in the country has slowed down, it has not stopped its spread and with the country having crossed the 100,000 infection threshold, there is understandably a sense of worry among the public. However, on the positive side, it bears mentioning that though each death is a tragedy in itself, the 588 fatalities so far — at 0.6 percent of the patient outcomes — is statistically far lower than the global average of 4 percent deaths among those who have had an outcome from the infection.
