Delivery License Holders Waiting For Regulatory Decision Of Traffic Dept
Those holding licenses for delivery companies are waiting for the issuance of regulations concerning registration of vehicles and motorcycles, and the capacity allowed for each license, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.
They explained that the General Traffic Department, after setting the limit for every delivery license at 15 motorcycles and ten cars, suspended registration licenses for vehicles and bikes until a regulatory decision is issued this month.
The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has started collecting a fee of KD 500 as a financial guarantee for every worker registered as a driver, and this amount will be returned to the owner of the license in the event that the worker leaves work or the company is closed.
The sources revealed that the license holders and the union of delivery companies intend to carry out a protest in case the regulatory decision is not issued, given that preventing the registration of vehicles and motorcycles without a legal basis disrupts their interests and the interests of the commercial establishments for which they provide the service, especially restaurants.
The sources indicated that there are 200 commercial licenses for delivery services for small projects. They affirmed that the licenses for delivery services serve about 30,000 licensed restaurants, in addition to various home projects, adding that the number of workers in each project ranges between 50 and 300 depending on the ability of the owner of the delivery company to license and pay financial guarantees.
The sources highlighted the recent meetings with the leaders of government agencies in order to look into these licenses, and study the demand of the license owners to allow them to register vehicles and motorcycles and raise the numbers until the regulatory decision is issued.
