Dean Has Criticized Lack Of Coordination Between MOE And Teachers Colleges
Dean of the College of Education at Kuwait University Dr Bader Al-Omar has criticized lack of coordination between the Ministry of Education and teachers’ colleges. He wondered why the College of Education was excluded from participating in the preparation of the new competency syllabus.
In an interview with the daily, Dr Al-Omar denied that Education graduates become strangers while in the field. He explained all courses of the college needed improvement. He went on to describe competency based syllabus as ‘great’, even though not every syllabus can be applied adequately in the field. He stressed the importance of transforming educational culture from one perspective to another in the case of school heads, pupils, guardians and teachers as a pre-requisite for success.
He hopes to see the diminishing role of dependence on paper texts, saying the knowledge is now in virtual/Cyberspace and we need to give more chance to self-learning, while investing in different forms of media. He also refused the idea of using iPad in learning, indicating it is another form of book and a store of knowledge.
