Customs Seize Counterfeit Clothes And Pens

The customs officers at the air customs warehouses, which are affiliated to the Department of Public and Private Customs Warehouses, were able to seize counterfeit branded clothes and pens in violation of the intellectual property rights law.

The General Administration of Customs explained in a statement that the operation came within the framework of the directives issued by the Director of the Customs, Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi, to check, inspect and follow up on the incoming consignments to the country to prevent prohibited materials entering the country.

The sources told Al-Rai after the shipment arrived from a Gulf country it was taken to the air customs warehouses and was subjected to a thorough check and officers found the goods — approximately 5,600 pens and 600 pieces of clothing — were counterfeit carrying well-known brand names.
