14 January 2018 Crime News

The customs officers at the Burj Al Arab Airport, north-west of Egypt, recently foiled the attempt of an Egyptian to smuggle parts and components of a spy plane into the country, reports Al- Rai daily. The passenger allegedly came from Kuwait. The import of such material is banned by Egyptian Law No. 216 of 2017, regulating the use of and trade in motorized or wireless aircraft. Security sources at the Egyptian airport said the passenger works as a photographer in Kuwait. He was found carrying parts and components of a spy plane, type ‘PHANTOM 4’, propellers and the main control device, sophisticated camera, microphone, and other parts including manual. The passenger said a friend asked him to hand it over to a friend of his and tried to contact him several times in front of the security men. The confiscated plane and the passenger have been referred to the authorities.
