Customs Officers Seized One Million Packs Of Tobacco And Betel Leaves From A Container
A member of the electronic media committee and the Supervisor of inspection and storage activities at Shuwaikh Port Mosaed Al-Hulaila revealed that Shuwaikh Customs officers discovered one million packs of tobacco and betel leaves from a container that arrived at the port from a GCC country, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a press release, he explained that the container, which stated that it contained plastic materials, remained at the port for 90 days, which roused the suspicions of the inspectors at the port.
;They checked the container and found some plastic items, but as they checked further into the container, they found a large quantity of banned items such as tobacco and betel leaves. Al-Hulaila praised the efforts exerted by the Shuwaikh Customs officers in hindering attempts to smuggle banned and imitation items into the country, affirming that such items are destroyed by the concerned authorities.
