Cultural Office In Cairo To Have A Look At The Certificates Of Their Employees And Verify Their Authenticity

Several ministries and government institutions have asked Kuwait’s Cultural Office in Cairo to have a look at the certificates of their employees and verify their authenticity, reports Al- Anba daily quoting knowledgeable sources.

This comes following the ongoing reports that many employees hold fake certificates and the Cultural Office has been tasked with contacting the concerned universities to ascertain the genuineness of these certificates. Meanwhile, a judicial source said while the Public Prosecution is continuing its investigations into the file of forged certificates, the undersecretaries of some ministries have sent letters to the Cultural Office in Cairo with a list of a number of its employees, those who have obtained Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate degrees, with a request to verify and authenticate them.

The source added the Anti-Counterfeiting and Falsification Department of the Criminal Investigations Department has also sent official letters to the Arab and International Criminal Police Department with the same request.

The source pointed out the Cultural Office in Cairo in the past has verified certificates of some certificates and many of them turned out to be forgeries. These certificates were reportedly affixed with fake seals and carried forged signatures. Meanwhile, Kuwait Society for Quality Education praised the meeting it held with His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al- Hamad Al-Sabah in the presence of representatives of Women’s Cultural and Social Society as well as representatives of the petition signed by public benefit societies and citizens concerning the need to take serious actions for developing education and eradicating the phenomenon of fake certificates, reports Al-Rai daily.

The society affirmed that His Highness the Prime Minister showed great concern over what he heard at the meeting and took the signed petition into consideration. The society said the recommendations specified in the petition stress the importance of issuing a law that prevents the use of certificates which are not equalized as well as establishing an independent body that will be responsible for equalizing certificates in accordance with the international standards.
