Csc Nods Exemption Of Expat Preachers And Muezzins From Kuwaitization

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Daoud Al-Assousi was recently quoted as saying the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has given the nod to exempt expatriate imams, preachers and muezzins from Kuwaitization, reports Al- Anba daily.

The approval was included in a letter issued by Civil Services Commission including the following: According to a Letter No. 9599 issued by the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs concerning the request of exempting expatriate imams, preachers and muezzins from the CSC decision taken in the meeting No. 12/2018 held on Nov 5, CSC approved the exemption of expatriate imams, preachers and muezzins from the enforcement of the relevant decision of CSC.

The letter of the CSC which is directed to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, stipulated that the number of imams, preachers and muezzins should be fixed, and that in the future, the appointment of expatriate imams, preachers and muezzins should be only in the following two cases, opening of new mosques and in case of shortage resulting from the end of service of any expatriates currently occupying the position of imams, preachers and muezzins.
