Criminal Court Jails An Officer And A Company Owner Over Mistreatment Of Workers

The Criminal Court in a ruling yesterday sent a Ministry of Interior officer and a company owner to penal servitude for 3 years in a residency trafficking case. The company owner was also fined KD. 5000 as compensation for the victim workers, Al Qabas reported.

The Public Prosecution office charged the officer of threatening the workers and cruelly using his position when he came with the security men to disperse the gathering of workers. Workers were demanding their financial rights from the sponsor.

The prosecution charged the owner of the company with bringing the workers on pretenses. He promised to provide housing, salaries, and work contracts to the workers but did not abide.
