Policewoman Assaulted And Clothes Torn By Two Young Women
While the assault on security men appears to have gained momentum, a policewoman in one of the patrols was assaulted, verbally insulted and her clothes were torn by two young women who were allegedly in an abnormal state, reports Al-Anba daily.
In a quick reaction, an investigator of the Nuwaiseeb Police Station ordered the immediate arrest and detention of the two women, believed to be Kuwaitis, at the police station.
They are charged with three counts – insulting a public officer on duty, abuse and slander, driving a vehicle in an abnormal condition, and tearing the clothes of a policewoman.
According to the daily, the Undersecretary for Operations Affairs at the Ministry of the Interior Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh has stressed the need not to give up the right of the victim and proceed with the prosecution of the two suspects.
This happened when the female police officers were on duty to run a check on veiled women at a police checkpoint and the two suspects were stopped because they looked in abnormal condition, the women rushed at the police officer and pulled and tugged at her and tore her clothes and verbally abused her. The two suspects denied the allegation, but the passersby have confirmed the incident took place and showed their willingness to testify.
