Covid-19: More Pakistani Medics Expected In Kuwait

Kuwait plans to recruit more Pakistani medical workers to help fight COVID-19 in the country, according to local media.

A total of 627 Pakistani doctors and health workers have already arrived in Kuwait in three groups last October, December and March.

The third group of 223 doctors, nurses and medical technicians have recently been distributed to hospitals in Kuwait after they spent seven days in domestic quarantine.

Around 75 per cent of the Pakistani medical workers, who have arrived in Kuwait, are nurses specialised in intensive care unit and chest care.

Medical professionals

More such professionals are expected to arrive as officials at Kuwaiti Health Ministry are in contact with their Pakistani counterparts to bring in more Pakistani medical professionals, health sources said.

The Kuwaiti Health Ministry plans to bring the total number of Pakistani medical workers to 1,000 to help curb the COVID-19 spread in the country, the sources added.

Their recruitment comes under a medical cooperation agreement signed between the two countries last July with the aim of boosting links and exchange of expertise.
