Court Suspends ‘appeals’ Filed By 24 In ‘moi Hospitality’ Case
The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Nasser Al- Heyd, adjourned until January 27 the appeals submitted by the Public Prosecution and the defendants in the infamous case known as “Hospitality of the Ministry of Interior” filed against 24 people. The case was adjourned for the receipt of the expert management report regarding the expenses.
Earlier, the Court of First Instance had sentenced the accused Brigadier General Adel Al-Hashash and his partner Ayman Salama to 30-year imprisonment, and ordered to seize their assets, dismiss Al-Hashash from his position, and obligate him and the other defendants to return more than KD 41 million The court also sentenced the former director of the Ministry of Interior’s Finance Department to 17 years in prison.
It sentenced the former assistant undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Sheikh Ahmed Al-Khalifa and director of the Hospitality Department in the Ministry of Finance to two-year imprisonment with hard labor, and ordered the payment of guarantee of KD 5,000 for the suspension of the ruling, and obligated them to observe good conduct after they were convicted of negligence.
The court also sentenced the second accused, who works as an employee of the Hospitality Department in the Ministry of Finance, and the owners of two hotels to ten-year imprisonment, and ordered them to return up to KD 10 million. The court sentenced owners of three other hotels to 15 years in prison.
