Court Sentenced Kuwaiti To 7 Yrs Imprisonment For Assaulting Filipina Maid

The Court of Appeals recently overturned the verdict of a lower court and sentenced a Kuwaiti to seven years imprisonment after he was found guilty of assaulting his Filipino maid, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily added, earlier the Criminal Court had acquitted the man. In the meantime, defense attorney who is also representing the Embassy of the Philippines in Kuwait said the Filipino community and other expatriates enjoy legal protection just like the Kuwaitis.
