Court Sentenced A Kuwaiti Citizen To Jail Term For Joining Is
The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to jail term after he was convicted of joining a banned terrorist group. Previously, the Criminal Court had sentenced him to ten-year imprisonment with hard labor, and ordered the confiscation of his computer and mobile phone.
A State Security case was filed against the Kuwaiti hacker who was accused of joining DAESH terrorist organization and promoting its ideology via Internet.
According to the case file, Ministry of Interior had announced the arrest of the 1990-born Kuwaiti citizen, who was an employee of one of the state institutions. He was accused of using a computer at his workplace to hack the official websites of friendly and sisterly countries and promote DAESH ideology with the help of accomplices.
After months of surveillance by detectives, the suspect was caught red-handed while hacking one of the official websites. When questioned, he confessed to committing the crimes and revealed details about his three accomplices. With the cooperation of Iranian and Jordanian authorities, the rest of the suspects were arrested as two of them were in Iraq and the third was in Jordan. All the suspects were then referred to the Public Prosecution and then sent to the court following completion of investigations.
