Court Ordered A Kuwaiti Couple To Pay Compensation Worth Kd 20,000 To The Woman’s Ex-husband

The Civil Court ordered a Kuwaiti man and woman to pay compensation worth KD 20,000 to the woman’s ex-husband for the moral and financial damages he sustained due to an immoral affair between the defendants.

Representing the plaintiff was Lawyer Fatmah Al-Shatti who explained that the two defendants were engaged in an adulterous affair. Her client’s wife did not honor her matrimonial bed, which resulted in moral and financial damages to her client.

Lawyer Al-Shatti said the prosecution managed to provide substantial evidences to prove the immoral relations between the defendants, due to which her client deserved to be compensated, especially since his ex-wife failed to respect her reputation and honor, and uphold religious, traditional and customs principles during her marriage life with the plaintiff.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Court acquitted a prison warden and two inmates who were accused of bribery, and possession and smuggling of drugs with the intention to sell and consume under circumstances that are not allowed by the law.

According to the case file, the warden accepted a bribe of KD 2,000 to look the other way, as one of the inmates smuggled the drugs into Central Prison, and the other inmate, who was previously convicted of rape, was in possession of drugs with the intention to consume and sell.

Representing the defendants was Lawyer Ena’am Haidar who said the evidence provided by the prosecution against her clients were insufficient to convict them. She also highlighted the manner with which the investigation was conducted, as it did not follow the proper chain of investigation as stipulated by the relevant laws.
