The Criminal Court has acquitted a former MP of tricking a female citizen into having sexual relations with him. According to the prosecution files, the female citizen accused the former MP of tricking her by promising to marry her several times. She refused persistently until they settled on customary marriage. The plaintiff said she approached the former MP in 2015, in his capacity as a public personality, to seek assistance concerning her job transfer. At the time, he asked for her phone number and then he started texting her love messages. However, after they engaged in physical relations, the plaintiff insisted on authenticating the customary marriage document and she realized that the marriage was a sham. The former MP denied it although the document contained his signature and that of two witnesses and her guardian.
