06 December 2017 Crime News

The Court of Cassation did not rule on the petitions filed to suspend the sentences issued in the case related to the storming of parliament building. The defendants were given different jail terms ranging from one year to nine years. The court stated that it could not rule on the petitions due to lack of two files from the lower and appeal courts. These files are currently in the possession of the Public Prosecution which is working on a petition against those who were acquitted. The Court of Appeals had recently sentenced those involved in the case of storming of the parliament building. Among the 70 defendants were some former and current Members of Parliament.
