Court Cancelled Imprisonment And Sentenced A Fine Of Kd 5,000 Against Man Possessing Hashish

The Criminal Court cancelled five years imprisonment sentence and a fine of KD 5,000 issued against a citizen in absentia for allegedly possessing hashish and Methamphetamine. The previous sentence was based on information provided by the prosecuting officer who narrated he was on routine tour of a desert area when he saw the citizen’s car parked at the location. He then approached the car for investigation and asked the citizen to show his ID card after discovering he wasn’t in normal condition. Lawyer Badr Al-Tebainawi in the citizen’s defense said the arrest and search procedures carried out on his client were illegal. He implored the court to clear him of all charges.
