03 March 2017 Crime News

The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict of First Instance Court that acquitted a juvenile and two others of kidnapping another minor with the intention of raping the plaintiff at a desert in Julai’a. The case file indicated the plaintiff and some of his friends were in a camp at the desert when the suspects begged him to accompany them in a car to a neighboring grocery. The second suspect stayed behind when they reached the grocery while the other two went to another location. At that point in time, the two suspects tried to rape the plaintiff, and when he resisted, the first suspect physically attacked him. The victim told them he would only succumb to their demand outside the car, so they abandoned him at the main road and fled the scene until a taxi took him home. Lawyer of the second defendant Nora Al-Ruqam argued that her client was not part of the act. She presented evidences to support the claim and the victim confirmed that her client had already left for the grocery before the rape attempt happened.
