Court Acquitted Egyptian Man For Raping An Adolescent In Farwaniya Area

The Court of Appeals chaired by Judge Hassan Al- Shammari nullified life imprisonment sentence the Court of First Instance handed to an Egyptian man for raping an adolescent in Farwaniya area. The appellant court thereby acquitted the suspect. An appeal filed by defense attorney Athbi Al-Nemran stated the Public Prosecution Department charged his client for allegedly abducting the plaintiff in front of his residence to rape her. Al-Nemran said the allegation was illogical, especially as the plaintiff claimed his client abused and threatened her against reporting the incident to the parents. He pointed to contradictions in the investigation and statements presented at the Public Prosecution Department, indicating no concrete evidences were available to indict his client.
