Court Acquitted A Kuwaiti Citizen Who Was Accused Of Possessing Brain Stimulants

The Court of Appeals upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of possessing brain stimulants — methamphetamine — for use, driving under narcotic infl uence and crossing red traffic light. According to the case file, the arresting officer saw the suspect’s vehicle cross a red signal, followed it and asked the driver to pull over. When he asked the driver for his civil ID, the latter revealed that he did not carry any identification document. Noticing his disoriented state, the officer searched the vehicle and found the abovementioned drug. He arrested the suspect and referred him to Drugs Control General Department. Lawyer Ismat Al-Kharboutli had represented the citizen in the court.
