The Misdemeanor Court acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of assaulting his estranged wife and stealing KD 200 from her purse. According to the case file, the man saw his wife leaving a clinic in Hawally area and entering the car of her cousin’s friend. He immediately rushed towards the car. As soon as the wife saw her husband coming towards her, she started to run but he caught up with her, threw her on the ground, assaulted her, and then left the scene with her handbag, which contained KD 200 and her mobile phone. With a forensic medical report, she reported the incident to the police. The man was summoned to the police station and he appeared with her handbag but without the money and mobile phone in it. Representing the man was Lawyer Abdulrahman Al-Watari, who insisted that his client and the plaintiff have an ongoing marital case in the court, stressing that the accusations against his client are malicious aimed at pressuring his client to divorce the plaintiff so that she can receive her rights in full after the divorce.
