25 November 2016 Crime News

An individual, identified as Abu Atash, who was arrested for possessing 53 liquor bottles and selling liquor to people in chalets, camps and flats used for illicit activities, was acquitted by the court because six of the confiscated liquor bottles are missing. According to the case file, when securitymen received information about an individual involved in alcohol peddling, they placed him on surveillance and eventually confirmed the information. After obtaining a warrant from the Public Prosecutor, securitymen arrested the suspect in a trap when an undercover agent was sent to him to purchase two imported liquor bottles. They found him in possession of 45 bottles of liquor bottles and large sum of money which he earned by selling the liquor. When questioned, he refused to reveal the source from whom he obtained the liquor. Regarding the verdict, the defense counsel Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan said the court was not convinced about the number of bottles confiscated from his client, as the investigator counted 47 bottles and recorded accordingly but the actual number of bottles was 53.
