Coronavirus Effect - Maids Recruitment Activities Suspended
The economic crisis by the Corona virus affected domestic labor offices, as some offices were forced to suspend their activities until the end of the year and hand over their offices to owners due to the inability to pay rents.
In this context, a member of the General Assembly of the Kuwait Federation, Thamer Al-Sawagh assured the owners of domestic labor recruitment offices and its committees that more than 40 offices in the Fahaheel area are in the process of handing over their offices and maintaining licenses until the market is opened for recruitment which is expected to be at the end of 2020 or early 2021.
He pointed out that it is difficult to bring in domestic workers before the end of this year. The Corona virus crisis made domestic workers of certain countries difficult to return back and therefore has expressed a strong desire to complete contracts and stay in Kuwait so that it reflects positive relationship between domestic workers and sponsors and eliminate the problems that we had heard in the past.
He stated that in addition to handing over the offices the residential apartments for housing the domestic workers have been evacuated stating that the period of labor sponsorship in most areas is over, and the rest of the problems can be solved by phone
