Corona Virus - Dexamethasone Proves First Life Saving Drug
The dexamethasone stimulant, an inexpensive drug, has become the first life-saving treatment for the Corona virus that has swept the world, with scientists describing this drug as a major achievement and raising hopes to save the lives of thousands of seriously ill patients.
British Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced today, Tuesday, that Britain will immediately begin prescribing a dexamethasone stimulant to Fairways Corona patients, after a test showed that it had saved the lives of a third of patients with the most serious symptoms. “We are working with the National Health Service to include the usual treatment for Covid-19 dexamethasone as of this afternoon,” Hancock said.
Available medicine Dexamethasone is a cheap drug, available in any pharmacy, and can be easily obtained anywhere in the world. Scientists said that this drug was responsible for keeping one in every eight patients alive, among those who were placed on ventilators – in the largest randomized trial to treat coronaviruses in the world. “It is the only drug that has been shown so far to reduce mortality and reduce it significantly,” said Dr. Peter Hurby, Professor of Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Department of Medicine at Oxford University and a leading researcher at the institute.
While Professor Martin Landay, the chief expert, said that “patients can start treatment with the medicine right away, research has been sought on a treatment that actually reduces the risk of death. There was no one until today, ”he said, adding:“ This is a drug that is universally available and not too expensive. This is very important, very important. ” Details of the experiment Regarding the experiment conducted to reach these results, 2104 patients with coronavirus were randomly selected to receive 6 mg of dexamethasone once a day (either orally or intravenously) for 10 days, and compared to 4321 Patients randomized to continue receiving regular healthcare. Among the last group of patients, deaths within 28 days were the highest in those requiring respiration (41%), intermediate in those requiring only oxygen (25%), and lowest among those who did not need any respiratory intervention ( 13%). Dexamethasone reduced death rates among patients who could only breathe through the devices by a third, equivalent to 35 percent, while reducing mortality among those who received oxygen by one fifth, according to preliminary results. Based on these results, the use of dexamethasone will prevent the death of one of about eight patients using artificial respiration, or one of about 25 patients who need oxygen alone. Last week, a research team that tested seven drugs and added more concluded that hydroxychloroquine did not help patients with corona virus in the hospital.
