Conman Arrested

Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested an unidentified conman who had cheated 13 people by selling them illusionary ‘chalet’, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the suspect targeted citizens and expatriates who were looking for a day out in a quiet place.

The suspect employed a simple ‘modus operandi’. He would advertise the picture of the fully furnished chalet or a rest room, which he had uploaded in his cell phone and lure the victims with offers.

The minimum he charged was 100 dinars per day. Once the victim fell into a trap, he would give a link to transfer the money to his account and after accomplishing the mission he would change the telephone line and look for another prey. Following several complaints filed by unsuspecting victims, the police set a trap for him with the help of e-crimes department and caught him.
