Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development Mubarak Al-Aro has announced that the Federation of Agricultural Productive and Livestock Cooperative Societies will be allowed to reopen its outlets as a move to control commodity prices.

In an interview with a local Arabic newspaper, Hiyam Al-Khudair, assistant undersecretary for the cooperatives sector in the ministry, said the union made requests to restore the basic system as it was before 2013, so that sales outlets could be opened and sales could be conducted comfortably to limit the rise in prices.

According to the decision, two new clauses have been added to Article 5 of 2013 regarding the objectives of the EU, namely:

1 - Providing common services such as local and external purchasing, setting up production units, and subsequent support activities, which result in a reduction of expenses and a higher level of service for the members.

2- Work on reducing the manipulation of prices of goods for the benefit of consumers, and on unifying their prices within member coops and their branches.
