Coast Guard Seizes 14 Water Bikes During Campaign; 24 Citations Issued

Following reports of a heavy presence of water bikes in some areas and acts of recklessness, the Maritime Operations and Formations, Maritime Security, Support Services, and Technical, and Directorate-General of the Coast Guard departments conducted an extensive security operation. They issued 24 citations and seized 14 water bikes.

The lives of sea travellers and the water bikers themselves are in danger, according to a local Arabic daily, and the security authorities are not about to turn a blind eye to it. They also stated that campaigns will continue to be organized until discipline is reined in and to control violators through a security network.

According to sources who spoke to the newspaper, Lieutenant General (Ret.) Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf, the first deputy prime minister and minister of the interior, and Lieutenant-General Anwar Al-Barjas, the ministry's undersecretary, issued the directions for the campaign.
