Clarify Query Over Grilling
Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah has sent a letter to National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim asking for clarification of some items in the grilling motion filed by MPs Thamer Al-Suwait, Khalid Al-Otaibi and Abdulkareem Al-Kandari against him. These items are as follows: selective enforcement of laws, favoritism in reshuffling some employees, interference of some officers to prevent citizens from filing lawsuits, and leakage of information regarding lawsuits to the media.
Speaker Al-Ghanim, meanwhile, discussed various issues in a telephone call with Speaker of the Council of Representatives in Bahrain Fawzia Bint Abdullah Zainal recently. These issues – which will be in the agenda of the meeting with Speaker of European Parliament David Sassouli in Brussels, Belgium later this month – include the position and vision of Arab countries regarding human rights.
This telephone call is part of the procedures for implementing the recommendations presented in the 31st session of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union; such as authorizing Al-Ghanim to meet with Speaker of the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) Duarte Pacheco and Sassouli to discuss issues adopted by the Arab Geopolitical Group, especially the Palestinian cause. MP Bader Al-Humaidi submitted a bill on amending Law No. 94/1983 regarding the establishment of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR). The bill allows national producers to sell their products like vegetables, fruits and fish directly without the need for a subcontractor or broker.
