Civil Aviation: Increasing The Capacity Of Flights To Reach 5,000 Arrivals

The Director of the Air Transport Department at the General Administration of Civil Aviation, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, announced the issuance of a decision to increase the operating capacity of flights to the country to 5,000 passengers per day, starting from the 22nd of this month, after the capacity did not exceed a thousand passengers per day.

Al-Rajhi added, in a special statement to Al-Qabas, that the decision issued by the Supreme Committee for Corona Emergencies will enable airlines operating at Kuwait International Airport to increase their commercial operation during the summer season, as the daily scheduled arrivals rate will reach 80% compared to the previous decision that specified the arrival No more than a thousand passengers only.

He said that a letter was sent from the Air Transport Administration to the airlines operating at the airport, regarding specifying their operational desires during the coming period, so that we can set operational schedules and determine the number of daily flights scheduled starting from the 22nd of this month.

Al-Rajhi asked about the number of daily flights expected after the decision to increase the operational capacity for arriving passengers, he said, “The number of daily flights depends on the wishes of the airlines operating at the airport, as the decision states that the maximum capacity for the number of arrivals to the country does not exceed 5,000 passengers per day, and thus the numbers will correspond. Al-Rajhi expected that the administration will receive the requests of the companies regarding the new travel destinations next week, so that these desires will be included in the operational tables before the 22nd of this month.

He indicated that the increase in flights will be to the currently available travel stations, with the possibility of opening some new destinations such as Bosnia and Bodrum in Turkey.

He indicated that all the circulars regarding travel requirements, whether for arrivals or departures, are still in effect and have not undergone any changes, indicating that the airport currently only receives Kuwaitis and their first-degree relatives and the domestic workers accompanying them, stressing, “Likewise, there has been no change in the list of countries. The Director of the Air Transport Department, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, confirmed the cancellation of all departing and arriving flights from Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, in implementation of the Cabinet's decision, while keeping the air cargo flights unchanged.

He added that residents wishing to travel to these countries can go through transit stations, as there will be no direct flights with these countries until further notice.
