Citizens And Expats Complain About Moc's Bad Services
Some Kuwaiti and expatriate customers of the Ministry Communications have expressed grievance over what they called “bad services” rendered below appreciable level, and urged the ministry to improve on its services.
The customers observed that nearly all the prefabricated rooms “old chinko” are rusty and the wooden ones among them are filled with garbage and remnants of construction to the extent that one could mistake it for a dumping site.
They said the ministry is no longer vibrant in offering new services related to home landlines due to the prevailing advanced mobile telecommunication services. One of the respondents Ahmad Al-Shammari said Sabah Al-Ahmad Residential City has a weak communication network lacking Internet.
He said the city is out of coverage area and far from the outer world, while landlines have yet to be connected to homes.
In his response, Salem Al-Harbi is surprised the ministry has yet to connect Jaber Al-Ahmad Residential Area to telephone service, although residents of the area have been living there for over two years. He noted the residents were already frustrated due to abandonment and neglect by the ministry which declines to connect telephone lines to buildings there. They said the telephone lines should have been connected to their homes before official delivery.
Mohammad Al-Mutairi wondered why concerned officials at the ministry headquarters do not move around their facilities to see the level of degradation happening there, especially the ones serving as refuse dumping sites, besides low level of public services.
In response to the criticism, an official source said the automation project for linking exchange was delayed 13 months and it’s now with the chairman of Quotations Review Committee. He explained telephone lines were not connected to new residential areas due to delay in executing the project included in the developmental projects of 2010. He reiterated the State Audit Bureau stopped the project and ordered the tender to be floated again, and eventually, the project was awarded to the same engineer against whom the bureau had raised observations.
