20 May 2020 Kuwait

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs following up on and working on plans to evacuate the stranded Kuwaitis abroad, dealt with a Kuwaiti citizen who was evacuated after she was stuck in Mexico on 15 May, reported Al Rai daily.

The woman, whose husband is in Kuwait, stated that she was visiting her sick mother, who resides in an area far from the capital, Mexico City, was transferred to the capital, and her travel arrangements were made. She was traveled on a Qatar Airways flight from Mexico to Paris, and then to Doha, then Kuwait.

The husband  expressed his thanks to His Highness, the Amir of Kuwait, and to Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Nasser, for helping to evacuate his wife from Mexico to Kuwait last Friday. He mentioned that his wife was visiting her sick mother in Mexico, and was supposed to return to Britain on March 30, since their daughter was studying there, but all flights were halted immediately. She was stranded in Mexico.

He noted that his wife contacted the Kuwaiti embassy in New Mexico wishing to return to the country, but she didn’t have an American visa and all the evacuation planes were from the United States. The husband explained that the embassy assisted his wife by sending her all the medications she needed in the embassy car despite her residence being nine hours from the embassy.

He said that upon his wife’s arrival at Doha Airport, an employee from the Kuwaiti embassy in Qatar received her and accompanied her to the airport hotel, as her plane would return to Kuwait after 10 hours, and at the appointed time, she was able to return to Kuwait on Friday, May 15th.

The husband was informed of his wife’s return by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Al-Nasser.
