Cid Have Put An End To The Criminal Activity Of A 3 Man Gang Of Syrians For Stealing Buses
Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department have put an end to the criminal activity of a three-man gang of Syrians, one of the most dangerous, where theft of vehicles is concerned.
During interrogation, the thieves are said to have admitted to stealing eight buses and dozens of vehicles of different models, most when they were left in operation by the owners. One of the Syrians reportedly left the country a few days ago and the other two have admitted to smuggling the buses and vehicles to Iraq and re-selling them there.
They added the stolen vehicles and buses were hidden in large containers and were covered by cork. A security source said the arrest came when an Egyptian filed a complaint with the Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh Police Station when someone stole the company bus he was driving. Investigation conducted by securitymen led to the whereabouts of the stolen bus in Sulaibiya and found it onboard a truck and covered with cork. After securing a warrant from the Public Prosecution, police then raided the home of one of the Syrians and arrested him and seized from him receipts showing purchase of cork in bulk and large sums of money.
The suspect then provided police with information that led to the arrest of the compatriot. A security source said the Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Abdul Hamid Al-Awadhi will submit a report to Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lt. General Suleiman Al-Fahd to honor detectives who solved the mystery of at least 30 buses and cars reported stolen.
