China Suspends Direct Flights To And From Britain

Beijing will suspend direct flights to and from Britain indefinitely due to concerns about the outbreak of a new strain of the Coronavirus there, said Wang Wenbin, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Thursday.

“After much scrutiny, China has decided to follow the lead of other countries and suspend flights to and from the United Kingdom,” Wang told reporters in a daily briefing.

“China will closely monitor related developments and continue to adjust control measures according to the situation,” he added.

Countries around the world are closing their borders to Britain after a new highly contagious strain of coronavirus emerged there.
