Chief Lawmaker In Kuwait Sees Schengen Visa Exemption Deal Imminent

Several Kuwaiti lawmakers are headed to Belgium in order to finalize a deal that will allow Kuwaiti citizens to travel visa-free to Schengen countries. Kuwait's parliament speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim announced the trip on Monday. Legislators from Belgium, the EU and the EC will vote in Brussels on whether to approve the move, the minister said in a statement.

He was confident that Kuwait's strong relations with EU countries would ensure a favorable outcome to the vote. Last month, the European Commission announced Kuwait would gain visa-free access to the Schengen zone once the EU includes it in its list of nations granting visa-free travel.
