Centre Rejects Kerala’s Request For Truenat Test For Returning Nris

The central government informed that conducting TrueNat test for COVID-19, on NRIs returning to India is not practical. Center had informed this in response to Kerala's request for conducting TrueNat test for COVID-19, on Keralites returning to the state from Gulf countries.

MEA said that it had consulted with the Indian Embassies in various countries and decided against conducting the test. Gulf countries have informed that TrueNat tests are not practical and will not be approved.

Kerala government had decided to make COVID tests mandatory for returning expats. It demanded the central government to allow only those expats who test negative during the TrueNat rapid tests to board evacuation flights. The facility for the testing has to be arranged by concerned embassies at the airports
