Cbk Host Economic Policy Makers
The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) will host a group of policymakers, executives in the banking sector, economists and financial technology experts at the World Banking Conference (Shaping the Future) on Sept 23 under the patronage of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The first session of the conference will be held under the title, “Refl ecting a View on the Global Economy and Economic Challenges,” the Central Bank said in a press statement Tuesday. The first session will also address geopolitical challenges, trade disputes, oil price fluctuation, currency exchange and effects of financial technologies; in addition to addressing expectations, tools available for facing future challenges and impact of all these factors on the banking industry.
This session will host Governor of Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency Dr Ahmed Al-Khulaifi, Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan Dr Ziad Fariz, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gulf Bank Omar Al-Ghanim. The second session is entitled, “Restructuring Financial Services through Techniques and Innovations,” with Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates Mubarak Al-Mansouri, Vice- Chairman and CEO of Boubyan Bank Adel Al-Majed in attendance.
The session will host founding partner of East Chain Anwar Al-Mahmeed and Head of Strategic Partnerships, Financial Technologies and Ventures for Central Europe and the Middle East at Visa Otto Williams.
The session will discuss the impact of technological developments that are progressing at high speed and are adopted at the same pace, changes caused by the revolution of financial technologies in the economic landscape, reality of the banking industry, and how the parties respond to challenges and opportunities offered by financial technologies to the banking industry.
The session will also host other speakers such as: Dr Garbis Iradian – Chief Economist MENA IIF, Henk Jan Hoogendoorn – Managing Director Financial Sector, Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority.
