Canceled Tickets Compensation Obstacles Push The File To Court

Official sources in the General Administration of Civil Aviation emphasized the necessity for all travel booking offices and airlines to retrieve canceled tickets for citizens and residents of the 31 countries that were banned from entering the country after the resumption of commercial flights at Kuwait International Airport early this month, noting that “civil aviation” has not been issued. After a circular about recently canceled tickets, the negotiation process is likely in the first place and the use of existing legal articles to take them to the judicial courts and apply them in case of rejection.
The sources told Al-Jarida yesterday that Civil Aviation will apply the law to travel reservation offices and airlines to retrieve canceled tickets, with a binding refund for every passenger whose ticket has been canceled and the plane did not take off due to regulatory decisions regarding the Corona pandemic and the accompanying decisions, including the decision to expand the circle The last ban countries to 31 countries, according to the assessment of the country’s health authorities.
The sources explained that Article 12 of the executive regulations of the Civil Aviation Law obliges airlines and ticketing offices to recover the amounts to their owners, noting that “civil aviation” is keen to appreciate the exceptional circumstance that passes through the world due to the Corona virus, pointing out that some offices and companies Negotiate with the canceled tickets by compensating them by booking trips to different destinations or keeping the ticket amounts for future reservations within a period of about one or two years in some other companies for later use, but some people wish to recover the value of tickets, which is something that must be implemented for those affected if they wish.
Regarding the lack of response from some, the “Civil Aviation” clarified, and with direct directions from the President of Civil Aviation Sheikh Salman Al-Hammoud, measures will be taken to hold those who fail about this matter, indicating that the administration has the right to expand its procedures through the Complaints and Arbitration Committee headed by it and the participation of a number of other government agencies towards companies and offices The laggard, which reaches the closure of its activities and its violation of the court to compensate the affected.
For his part, Chairman of the Federation of Travel and Tourism Offices, Muhammad Al-Mutairi, said that there is great cooperation from ticketing offices and airlines to return the amounts paid due to the cancellation of tickets, indicating that there is a deadline circulated by the General Administration of Civil Aviation until September 30 for canceled tickets before entering the stage Resumption of commercial flights.
Al-Mutairi said in a statement to Al-Jarida that offices and companies have returned about 60 percent of the canceled tickets since the beginning of the Corona pandemic until July 31, explaining that there are great efforts to compensate for the recently canceled tickets after the resumption of commercial flights during the beginning of this month in August.
